Van Gogh—Five Bottles Poster

Vincent van Gogh painted *Still Life with Five Bottles* in Nuenen in November 1884. This was a period when he had not yet become known for his vivid yellows and blues; instead, he used a palette of dark, earthy tones reminiscent of Old Dutch painting. His arrangement of the five bottles side by side with an almost sculptural weight demonstrates how he transformed ordinary kitchen objects into studies of light, volume, and surface. The work portrays Van Gogh before the famous burst of color that would emerge a few years later—in a heavier, quieter, and much darker world.
