Van Gogh—Laborer in a Field Poster

Vincent van Gogh painted *Laboureur dans un Champ* in 1889 while he was staying at the mental hospital in Saint-Rémy. The fields he saw from his window had become one of his most important subjects during those months; even when he could not go outside, he observed the changing seasons and the work in the fields. In this painting, the lone farmer plowing the soil under the sun embodies Van Gogh’s frequently depicted themes of labor, connection to the land, and the unbroken cycle of life. The undulating lines of the soil, like waves, and the bright sun transform an ordinary agricultural scene into something almost cosmic.
